Penang's local seafood
Wednesday, 12 May 2010 14:38

THE fishing industry has waned over the years in Penang and many fishing villages have re-invented themselves as seafood destinations. One such place is Bukit Tambun. Located in Seberang Perai Selatan, the quaint village is a riverine community which sits at a river mouth along the banks of Sungai Jawi.

The proximity to the sea allows the village fresh seafood every day and as a result, many restaurants serving up the best catch have mushroomed over the years. Local bounties like mantis prawns, octopus, king and mud crabs, nail snails, garoupa fish, etc, are dished out using local recipes.
