Interest in Penanti wanes

WITH Barisan Nasional out of the running in Penanti (read here and here), the Perak MB issue, not the coming May 31 by-election, became the talk at the constituency last week (read here). As interest in Penanti wanes, reports on political developments in Penang have become more diverse, reflecting more internal party issues:

  • Complex PAS moves in Penanti: The recent move by Penang PAS to suggest fielding a candidate in Penanti reveals complex developments in the party and within Pakatan Rakyat. Read here
  • Rumblings over appointment of state BN chief: Penang MCA grassroots have voiced their displeasure over the apppointment of former CM Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon as state Barisan chief (read here) but decided to drop the matter. Read here
  • Gerakan's Machang Bubok discontent: Four Machang Bubok branches have openly called for a review of the leadership's choice of constituency coordinator. Read here
